Both internships are paid, full-time, and based in Massachusetts.

Internship 1: Multi-physics Analysis Intern

Job Highlights

  • Internship Duration: 12–16 weeks

  • Work Hours: 40–50 hours per week

  • Location: Devens, Massachusetts (on-site)

  • Eligibility: Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students

  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the US

Key Work Areas

  • Develop 1D and 2D models for thermal, electromagnetic, and wave mechanics systems

  • Run coupled electromagnetic and thermal simulations

  • Analyze experimental data from superconducting magnet tests

  • Perform trade-space and numerical sensitivity analysis

  • Improve analysis pipelines using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools

  • Conduct literature reviews related to quench and cable physics

  • Present findings and collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams

Skills & Background Preferred

  • Strong background in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, or related STEM fields

  • Experience with COMSOL, ANSYS, MATLAB, Python

  • Knowledge of electromagnetism, numerical modeling, and statistics

  • Interest in superconductors and high-performance simulations

Internship 2: R&D Test Engineering Intern

Job Highlights

  • Locations: Somerville, MA or Devens, MA (on-site)

  • Eligibility: Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students

  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the US

Key Work Areas

  • Support engineers in designing and building test stands and fixtures

  • Execute experimental tests and collect high-quality data

  • Perform data analysis to support magnet technology development

  • Design, build, and commission equipment and testing systems

  • Work closely with manufacturing, R&D, and SPARC teams

  • Support design reviews and test readiness reviews

Skills & Background Preferred

  • Pursuing degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Applied Physics

  • Hands-on experience through labs, projects, research, or internships

  • Exposure to cryogenics, high voltage, high currents, or instrumentation is a plus

  • Familiarity with ANSYS, COMSOL, Python, CAD tools preferred
