DRDO CAIR Summer 2026 Paid Internship: Applications Invited for 6-Month Research Training in AI, Robotics & Electronics

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has officially invited applications for a 6-month paid internship at the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR), Bengaluru. The programme is open to final-year B.E./B.Tech students and offers hands-on research exposure in national-priority technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Command & Control systems, and Information Security.

About DRDO CAIR

The Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) is one of DRDO’s premier laboratories. It works on advanced defence technologies such as:

• Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning

• Robotics systems

• Secure battlefield communication

• Command and control systems

• Information and communication security

The lab develops mission-critical systems used for secure communication and information management in defence operations.

Internship Duration & Location

• Duration: 6 Months

• Location: DRDO-CAIR, CV Raman Nagar, Bengaluru – 560093

• Mode: On-site research internship

Monthly Stipend

• ₹5,000 per month (fixed)

• Paid in two instalments:

  • ₹15,000 after 3 months

  • ₹15,000 after completion of 6 months

(Interns must bear their own accommodation, travel, and personal expenses.)

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Be in the final year of B.E./B.Tech

• Have First Division academic performance

• Be studying in relevant engineering disciplines

• Apply through their college/institute

Selection Process

Selection will be based on academic performance:

• 10th (Physics & Maths): 10% weightage

• 12th/Diploma: 15% weightage

• B.E./B.Tech semester marks: 75% weightage

Interviews may be conducted for shortlisted candidates.

Important Conditions

• Internship is purely temporary and does not guarantee a job in DRDO

• Interns must follow DRDO security rules and the Official Secrets Act, 1923

• Only sick leave is allowed (with medical proof)

• Any misconduct or disclosure of confidential information can lead to termination
