DRDO SSPL Paid Internship 2026: Eligibility, Selection Process, and Application Details

The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), under the Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, has opened applications for its Paid Internship Program at the Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL). About Solid State Physics Laboratory (SSPL)

SSPL is a premier DRDO laboratory engaged in research in the area of advanced semiconductor materials and devices.

Research Areas: Compound semiconductors, MEMS, MMICs, Acoustic sensor systems, Laser diodes, IR sensors, and Nanotechnology.

Location: Timarpur, Delhi (Lucknow Road).

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be "Ongoing" students in the following streams:

• Education:

  • B.E. / B.Tech. (Ongoing students) OR

  • M.Sc. / M.Tech. (Ongoing students).

• Streams/Disciplines: Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Electrical, Material Science, Quantum Technology, Laser Optics, Semiconductor Device, IT, or Computer Science (CSE).

• Note: Candidates need to apply through their respective institutes.

Internship Duration

6 Months (Fixed Duration) Note: Only candidates selected for the 6-month tenure are eligible for the stipend.

Stipend Details

₹5,000 per month (Total ₹30,000 for 6 months).

• Payment Mode: The stipend is paid in two equal installments via electronic transfer:

  • ₹15,000 after completion of 3 months.

  • ₹15,000 after completion of 6 months.

• Expenses: Lodging, boarding, transport, and medical expenses must be borne by the intern.

Selection Process

Interview-based selection. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview.

Key Guidelines (HRD & Security)

• Security: Interns are bound by the Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923. Unauthorized disclosure of information on social media or press is strictly prohibited.

• Attendance: Working hours will be as per the laboratory’s standard timing. No leave is allowed except for valid sick leave.

• Access: Interns will be granted access only to non-classified areas within the DRDO laboratory.

• No Job Guarantee: Completion of the internship does not guarantee employment at DRDO.
