Established in 1991, this highly acclaimed programme offers bachelor's and master's students a unique opportunity to undergo two months of rigorous research training. It is designed to inspire young minds toward scientific innovation and academic excellence.

Fellowship Benefits

Selected fellows receive comprehensive financial and academic support:

  • Monthly Stipend: ₹10,000 per month for two continuous months.

  • Travel Allowance: Second-class sleeper train fare (shortest route) from college/residence to JNCASR and back.

  • Mentorship: Hands-on training under the guidance of top scientists in India.

The programme covers a wide spectrum of scientific disciplines:

  • Life Sciences: Genetics, Immunology, Infectious Diseases, Neurobiology, and more.

  • Chemical Sciences: Solid State Chemistry, Nanomaterials, and Renewable Energy.

  • Physical Sciences: Quantum Optics, Statistical Physics, and Astrophysics.

  • Engineering Sciences: Fluid Dynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer, and Microfluidics.

  • Materials Sciences: Quantum Materials, Energy Materials, and AI/ML for Materials.

  • Chemical Biology: Drug Discovery, Bio-organic Chemistry, and Molecular Probes.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following academic and disciplinary requirements:

General Pre-requisites:

  • Minimum 65% marks in 10th and 12th standard (core subjects).

  • First Class marks in all previous semesters of the qualifying degree.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Life/Physical Sciences: 1st/2nd year of B.Sc.; 1st to 3rd year of B.E./B.Tech; or 1st year of M.Sc.

  • Chemical/Materials Sciences: 1st to 4th year of Int. M.Sc./BS-MS or 1st year of M.Sc.

  • Engineering: 1st to 3rd year of B.E./B.Tech or 1st year of M.E./M.Tech.

  • Medicine/Veterinary: 1st to 3rd year of MBBS/BVSc.

Fellowship Duration: 2 Continuous Months (Summer)

Application Fee

A non-refundable application fee of ₹500 must be paid via Razorpay to the JNCASR bank account (Canara Bank, IISc Branch, Bangalore).

Referee Recommendation

During the online application, candidates must nominate a Referee. Upon submission, the referee will receive an auto-generated email with a link to submit a recommendation letter. Ensure your referee is informed in advance.
