Position Overview: Research Associate – Forensic Toxicology & Alcoholology

• Location: Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany

• Employment Type: Full-time or Part-time

• Contract: Temporary (initially 2 years)

• Project: Funded research project (ELEVATE)

The position is initially offered for two years, with a strong expectation of extension beyond the funded project period.

Key Responsibilities

As a Research Associate at UKE, you will be actively involved in both scientific research and applied forensic work:

• Developing new analytical methods in forensic toxicology

• Supporting clinical-toxicological on-call and backup services

• Preparing and validating toxicological findings and reports

• Working with advanced analytical techniques such as LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, HPLC, and immunochemical methods

• Preparing biological samples including blood, urine, and hair

• Participating in ongoing and future research projects

• Teaching and supporting education for medical, chemistry, and pharmacy students

• Opportunity to pursue doctoral (PhD) studies alongside research duties

Who Should Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)

UKE is looking for motivated candidates with a strong scientific foundation and collaborative mindset:

• A completed university degree in pharmacy, chemistry, or food chemistry

• Initial research or publication experience (preferred but not mandatory)
