Call for Applications: International Cancer Foundation Clinical Research Workshop for African Investigators – November 2026, Accra

The International Cancer Foundation has officially opened applications for its Methods in Clinical Research Workshop for African Investigators, scheduled to take place from November 6–8, 2026, in Accra, Ghana. This intensive capacity-building programme is designed for oncology physicians across West Africa who are ready to strengthen their clinical research skills and contribute to expanding cancer trials on the continent.

About the Workshop

This three-day in-person workshop focuses on building practical research skills for African clinicians. It brings together leading experts from Cleveland Clinic, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and major African research institutions.

The programme begins with classroom-based learning in Accra and continues with long-term mentorship, guided study, and hands-on training. Selected participants will learn how to design clinical trials, manage research programs, and address barriers to cancer research in underserved communities.

By the end of the programme, every participant will develop a complete clinical trial protocol ready for implementation.

Up to three investigators, along with their research nurse or coordinator, will also be selected for a four-week practical training experience at a leading cancer research institute in the United States.

Who Should Apply?

Applications are open to:

• Physicians practicing medical, surgical, pediatric, radiation, gynecologic, or hematologic oncology in West Africa

• Applicants must have institutional support to advance their research program

• Each physician must attend with a research nurse or study coordinator from their institution

Due to limited capacity, only 10 investigators, along with their research staff, will be selected through a competitive review process.
