The District of Columbia Bar announces the opening of applications for the John Payton Leadership Academy Spring 2026, an intensive, in-person leadership development program for D.C. Bar members. The program will be held at the D.C. Bar Headquarters and consists of three full-day sessions. Applications must be submitted by March 20, 2026.
About the John Payton Leadership Academy
The John Payton Leadership Academy is a practice-focused learning program designed by lawyers, for lawyers. It supports the professional growth of D.C. Bar members by strengthening leadership skills and encouraging meaningful engagement within the Bar and the broader legal community. The program emphasizes reflection, interactive learning, and real-world leadership practice.
Program Dates and Format
The Spring 2026 academy includes three full-day, in-person sessions on the following dates:

Participants are expected to attend all sessions to ensure continuity and full engagement.
Tuition and Financial Assistance

Program Tuition: USD 1,500

Tuition is payable upon acceptance and may be paid in three installments

Tuition assistance is available for nonprofit, public-interest, and government attorneys

Acceptance notifications will be sent by March 27, 2026.
