About the Internship

The Summer 2026 Science Intern will work closely with Earthjustice staff scientists to support legal challenges to fossil fuel projects and advance the clean energy transition. The role focuses on applying scientific and technical research to real-world legal and policy efforts.

The internship runs for 10 weeks, with a full-time commitment of 37.5 hours per week, and offers flexibility for remote work within the United States or a hybrid schedule in San Francisco, California.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Staff Scientist, the intern will:

• Conduct research for litigation, administrative comments, appeals, and campaign materials

• Prepare in-depth research memos on emerging scientific, technical, economic, or policy issues related to energy and climate

• Support science-based analysis used in environmental advocacy and legal proceedings
