Metropolitan Section PGA Foundation Announces PGA WORKS Fellowship for 2026

The Metropolitan Section PGA Foundation has officially opened applications for the PGA WORKS Fellowship, a six-month paid professional opportunity scheduled from May 2026 through October 2026. This fellowship is designed to provide hands-on experience in golf administration while intentionally supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds who are interested in building long-term careers in the business and development of the game of golf.

The PGA WORKS Fellowship is a nationally recognized initiative focused on expanding access, representation, and leadership within the golf industry. Through this program, the Metropolitan Section PGA Foundation aims to cultivate a pipeline of skilled professionals prepared to step into meaningful roles across golf administration, programming, and nonprofit operations.

A fellowship within a PGA Section offers a rare opportunity to learn how golf operates beyond the course—across education, youth development, military outreach, events, fundraising, and nonprofit management.

Fellowship Role and Focus Areas

The selected fellow will work closely with the Foundation Director and the Metropolitan PGA team to support PGA REACH initiatives. PGA REACH is the charitable foundation of the PGA of America and is organized around three core pillars:

Military Pillar – PGA HOPE

PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is the flagship military program of PGA REACH. It introduces golf to veterans with disabilities, supporting physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being. The fellow will assist with program coordination, communications, reporting, and volunteer engagement.

Youth Pillar – Junior Golf Programs

The Metropolitan Section PGA Foundation delivers junior programming to over 5,000 young golfers each year. This includes PGA Jr. League, Drive, Chip & Putt Championships, and the Met PGA Junior Tour. The fellowship provides direct exposure to youth sports management, event execution, and participant engagement.

Diversity Pillar – Golf Access and Career Pathways

Through programs such as Golf-in-Schools, First Tee partnerships, and the PGA WORKS Fellowship itself, the Foundation works to broaden participation and leadership within golf. Fellows gain experience across multiple departments, helping them understand the full ecosystem of the sport.

Key Responsibilities

The PGA WORKS Fellow will support a wide range of operational and administrative activities, including:

• Assisting with planning, execution, and promotion of PGA REACH and Foundation programs

• Supporting communications, logistics, scheduling, budgeting, billing, and event operations

• Coordinating with PGA Professionals, partner organizations, sponsors, and volunteers

• Documenting programs for marketing, social media, and public relations reporting

• Assisting with fundraising events, donor tracking, and sponsor engagement

• Supporting PGA HOPE programming, veteran outreach, and Military Golf League operations

• Helping manage Drive, Chip & Putt local, sub-regional, and regional competitions

• Assisting with PGA Jr. League recruitment and junior tour administration

• Supporting database management, website updates, office operations, and field staff coordination

This role is ideal for candidates seeking real-world experience in nonprofit sports administration, youth development, and large-scale program management.

Eligibility and Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Undergraduate or graduate degree completed or in progress

• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

• Experience or interest in social media marketing and communications

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime

• Willingness to travel across the Metropolitan Section service area

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The fellowship includes both office-based and on-site event responsibilities. Fellows should be comfortable traveling, working outdoors during events, standing for extended periods, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

Compensation and Benefits

The PGA WORKS Fellowship offers a total compensation of $18,750 for the six-month term. Additional benefits include:
