What is the MIFP Fellowship Program?

This is a special 6-month career training program. It is designed to give you real-world experience and mentorship in different conservation fields. You will work directly with experts from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service on important projects that protect America's natural resources. The program provides a weekly living allowance, housing, training, and a direct path to potential federal jobs.

Available Fellowship Positions for 2026

MobilizeGreen is hiring for four main types of fellowships, with over 30 positions available in stunning locations across the country.

1. Adaptation, Hydrology & Construction Management Fellow

• What You'll Do: Work on projects like habitat restoration, water monitoring, and infrastructure planning. You'll use science and engineering to help wildlife adapt to climate change.

• Where You Can Work: Choose from 2 locations.

  • Position 1: Washington, District of Columbia

  • Position 2: San Luis Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex, Alamosa, Colorado

2. Business Management Fellow

• What You'll Do: Support the business side of conservation. Learn about budgeting, purchasing, human resources, and office management for a national wildlife refuge.

• Where You Can Work: Choose from 4 locations.

  • Position 1: Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, Soldotna, Alaska

  • Position 2: Washington, District of Columbia

  • Position 3: Denver, Colorado

  • Position 4: Leavenworth, Washington

3. Facility Operations & Data Support Fellow

• What You'll Do: Help manage buildings, equipment, and data systems for wildlife refuges. Learn about asset management, budgeting, and using software to track maintenance.

• Where You Can Work: Choose from 2 locations.

  • Position 1: Region 3 Office, Bloomington, Minnesota

  • Position 2: Washington, District of Columbia

4. Maintenance Fellow

• What You'll Do: Get hands-on training in skilled trades. Work on fixing buildings, maintaining vehicles, caring for grounds, and completing repair projects in beautiful outdoor settings.

• Where You Can Work: Choose from over 25 locations across the USA, including:

  • Positions in WA: Winthrop, Cathlamet, Othello, Leavenworth, Seattle

  • Positions in TX: Austwell

  • Positions in MN: Fergus Falls

  • Positions in AR: Bald Knob

  • Positions in VA: Chincoteague Island

  • Positions in RI: Charlestown

  • Positions in NV: Amargosa Valley

  • Positions in UT: Brigham City

  • Positions in ND: St. Michael

What You Will Get as a Fellow

• Weekly Pay: A living allowance of $800 per week.

Who Can Apply?

• You must be between 18 and 30 years old (veterans can apply up to age 35).

• You must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

• A high school diploma or GED is required. College experience is helpful for some positions but not always required.

• You need a valid driver's license.

• Most importantly, you must have a strong interest in conservation and a willingness to learn.
