About MERL
The Motivation in Education Research Lab (MERL) is a specialized unit within the Physical Education and Sport Science Department. Its mission is two-fold:

Translational Research: Converting complex motivational data into practical guides for teachers.

Key Responsibilities & Leadership Roles
Research leadership and execution:
- Write grant proposals and secure research funding
- Conceptualise studies and develop research designs
- Plan, execute, and manage research projects end-to-end
- Analyse data and synthesize findings
- Disseminate research through publications, presentations, and practitioner-oriented outputs
Academic mentorship and service:
- Serve as a resource person for junior research staff and graduate students
- Provide guidance on research methods, analysis, and scholarly writing
Lab operations and engagement:
- Organise academic activities (e.g., seminars, workshops)
- Maintain and update the MERL website
- Oversee lab inventories and risk management protocols to ensure compliance and safety
- Other duties as assigned by Principal Investigator
