Teen Summer Program (TSP) 2026 Applications Now Open for Eligible Teens of WBG, IMF and IDB Staff

Applications are now open for the Teen Summer Program (TSP) 2026, a highly sought-after three-week summer enrichment program for teenagers aged 16–18 whose parents are employed at the World Bank Group (WBG), International Monetary Fund (IMF), or Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The program will run from June 22 to July 9, 2026, and offers a structured, in-person learning experience focused on global development, leadership, and career readiness.

The Teen Summer Program is designed exclusively for eligible high school students and is grounded in the World Bank’s mission to end extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity. Each year, the program brings together expert speakers and professionals from WBG, IMF, and IDB to introduce participants to real-world global challenges and development work.

About Teen Summer Program (TSP) 2026

TSP is a full-day, weekday program that combines academic learning with creative and practical activities. Participants engage in:

• Expert-led seminars

• Mock parliaments and simulations

• Group development projects

• Presentations and collaborative exercises

The program encourages teens to think critically, work collaboratively, and explore how global institutions operate in practice.

Theme for TSP 2026

“Youth on a Livable Planet: Skills, Jobs, Impact”

The 2026 theme highlights the role of young people in shaping a sustainable and inclusive future. The program emphasizes essential future-ready skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and leadership, while exploring how emerging careers can contribute to sustainability, inclusion, and global impact.

Participants are encouraged to see themselves not only as learners, but as emerging changemakers capable of turning ideas into meaningful action.

• Build awareness of global interdependence and key development challenges

• Foster respect for diverse cultures and perspectives

• Encourage responsible, values-based global engagement

Institutional Knowledge

• Understand the missions and roles of WBG, IMF, and IDB

• Learn how development projects are designed and implemented

• Explore real-world case studies and development outcomes

Personal Development & Career Readiness

• Strengthen leadership, teamwork, and communication skills

• Develop problem-solving and presentation abilities

• Gain exposure to development-related career pathways and required skills

Program Dates & Schedule

• Program Dates: June 22 – July 9, 2026

• Days: Monday to Friday

• Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

• Location: Washington, DC (WBG, IMF, IDB facilities)

Full attendance is mandatory throughout the program.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

• Be 16, 17, or 18 years old by July 1, 2026

• Be currently enrolled in high school (not college or university)

• Be the child of a WBG, IMF, or IDB staff member

• Have at least one parent registered with the relevant family association (WBFN, IMFFA, or IDBFA)

• Apply through only one family association (multiple applications lead to disqualification)

• Have intermediate or higher proficiency in English

• Commit to attending the full program schedule

Previous TSP participants are not eligible to apply again.

• Applications Open: Monday, January 19, 2026 at 12:00 noon (EST)

• Applications Close: Monday, February 2, 2026 at 12:00 noon (EST)

Selection & Program Capacity

• Maximum participants: 48 students

• Meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission

• Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews

• Final acceptance notifications will be sent in March 2026

Program Fee & Expenses

• Registration Fee: USD 350 (non-refundable)

• Payment Deadline: March 23, 2026 (after acceptance)

Participants are responsible for:

• Daily meals (except on specified days)

• Local transportation in Washington, DC

• Travel, lodging, and visa costs (for non-DC or international participants)
