IIEST Shibpur JRF Recruitment 2026: CSIR-ASPIRE Funded Project, Salary up to ₹42,000 per Month

Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, has announced a new Junior Research Fellow (JRF) vacancy under a CSIR-ASPIRE sponsored research project in the School of Community Science and Technology. This opportunity is ideal for NET/GATE-qualified science graduates interested in interdisciplinary research spanning nutrition, food science, and bioavailability studies.

About the Project

The selected candidate will work on the research project titled:

“Enhancement of iron bioavailability through the synergistic effects of soya and millet-based xylo-oligosaccharides fortified non-dairy yogurts.”

The project is funded by CSIR-ASPIRE (Government of India) and focuses on improving nutritional outcomes using innovative, plant-based food systems—an area of growing relevance in public health and food technology research.

Position Details

• Post Name: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

• Number of Posts: 01

• Project Duration: Up to 31 March 2028 or till the project continues

• Initial Appointment: Up to 31 March 2026, extendable as per CSIR guidelines

• Job Location: IIEST Shibpur, Howrah, West Bengal

Fellowship / Salary

• ₹37,000 per month (1st & 2nd year)

• ₹42,000 per month (3rd year, after upgradation to SRF as per CSIR norms)

This fellowship follows CSIR funding rules, making it financially competitive among institute-based JRF positions.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Applicants must hold any one of the following degrees with minimum 55% marks:

• B.S. (4-year programme)

• B.Pharm / MBBS

• Integrated BS–MS

• M.Sc.

• B.E. / B.Tech or equivalent

Additionally:

• NET or GATE qualification is mandatory

• Candidate should be NET qualified in a Science subject

• Must have studied Science at 12th level, and completed B.Sc. & M.Sc.

Age Limit

• Upper Age Limit: 28 years

• Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC, women, and PwD candidates as per Government of India rules

Selection Process

• Shortlisting based on academic performance (10th, 12th, UG, PG) and NET/GATE score

• Shortlisted candidates will be informed via email

• Final selection through interview

• Document verification will be conducted at the time of interview
